Too much reading and not enough instruction. I did not want a near religious experience from this book. I wanted more stepouts and instruction on how to do things not the meditation that this purports to bring to a person while drawing. Just has a very few tangles . I am thankful I did not purchase the physical book because I do not think it would be worth the high price attached to it. Thorough explanations and beautiful artwork - as would be expected from the founders of Zentangle. The exercises are wonderful The encouragement is consistent. The progress from basic to more complex is gradual. The trick is to keep from reading and saying, "yeah, got that" and rushing onward through the material. The principles behind the doing takes time to absorb and must be applied to the 'doing' part over and over. Practicing the strokes and allowing yourself time for muscle memory (like scales on the piano). I am fascinated by the slow, one-stroke-at-a-time philosophy -- a wholly different approach from representational drawing. I find not focusing on the outcome but letting yourself be immersed 'in the moment' in the process is easier to read about than to do. A challenge and a perfect antidote for someone who feels they are always wrestling with 'time' in one way or another. A rush to mastery is not what this is about An excellent Zentangle primer!!
